Harcourt Park

Wow!What a wonderful day we had at Harcourt Park. Thank you to all the parents that came along to help us out.

We really enjoyed the pool. We  loved the sprinklers that sprayed us with water. We also thought the slide was lots of fun.

After swimming we played games with the tinana equipment. There were all sorts of games. Koka Tangi played 'Haere mai - Haere atu with us. We also played bullrush, touch rugby, soccer, relays and other fun games.

After lunch we played on the playground. There were lots of challenges and new things to try. Te Mauri's dad played tag with us.

Grandparents' day

We had lots of excitement yesterday afternoon at the final whanau group afternoon for the term. We enjoyed having lots of grandparents here to share fun and games with. Thank you to the families that had grandparents available to attend. I know the children enjoyed 'sharing' their special person with their friends as well.

(I only have photos from the Kowhai team at the moment so will add others when they are shared by other teachers).

Books, books, books!

Our friends from Fergusson Intermediate came to visit us and bring the books they wrote for us. We all have our own book to take home.

Colour fun

Today we were learning about mixing colours. We found we could mix a new colour from two primary colours. We also found out that by adding more of one of the colours we could change the secondary colour so that it looked different.

UPDATED! Basketball. By Mia

Updated with added details. Well done Mia!

Yesterday we went to the courts for the basketball skills. Matt and Brendan taught us the fun games. When we went to it we did our warm up doing exercises. with Matt. We did running and skipping.
Then we got our ball and put it under our arm. We called it chicken wing.
Later on we did a game called green light, red light. If you knocked Brendan's bottle over you were a star of the day. PJ and Ashley knocked his bottle over twice.

Week 1

Wow - this week as flown by! Hopefully you all had a good break and are ready for a busy term.

The children have all enjoyed swimming this week (even the ones that were nervous beforehand). We have two more weeks so make sure you bring togs everyday (except Fridays). Our focus this term is water safety and developing water confidence.
Exploring floating and sinking with toys.

Playing with toys to see which things float and which things sink.
"Look - I can touch the bottom"

Getting the ball across the pool without touching it.

Having a go at putting faces in the water.
Enjoying watching the fun.
